I live in a community where being fit & healthy is a lifestyle norm. We run, bike, swim, spin, yoga, crossfit, participate in strength classes etc...We do it to stay healthy, we do it because it makes us fit, we do it because it makes us feel good, we do it to be social, we do it to set healthy examples for our children, we do it to be strong & confident, we all have our reasons.
Personally, I do it for all of the above and of course, the outfits.
Who doesn't enjoy putting on something that makes you feel good about yourself?
From a young age, I've always loved dressing up, and when working out, I still love putting on an outfit that makes me feel good about myself.
Throughout the college years and for some years after, I lacked self esteem & self confidence, but that's a whole other blog. LOL! Living in a community that is so focused on being fit and healthy has allowed me to regain all of those things I lost in myself for a number of years and exude the confidence that I admired in so many others.
When I started running a few years ago, I think something that definitely helped me stick with it, the new wardrobe I started to accumulate. If I felt good about what I was wearing to run, I couldn't give up. Lululemon should send me a thank you note!
So after strictly being a long distance runner for the past 3 years, I have succumbed to buying a road bike and am taking on a new challenge. It was only a matter of time before this happened. My group of running girls are all cyclists & triathletes, I knew I would get sucked in eventually.
It is with huge excitement that I'm trying something new, stepping out of my comfort zone and hoping to become confident on the bike. Oh and bonus, I get to buy new bike outfits!!
Being part of team Betty Designs for 2014 has inspired me so much. To be a part of this group of strong, fit, confident, beautiful women makes me want to be the best me I can be. (If anyone wants to order from Betty Designs, message me for a discount)
When I broke the news to my enthusiastic triathlete & running group friends with a photo of my new bike & photo of my first cycling kit outfit by Betty Designs, my friend Pam responded, "The truth comes out! She really wanted the outfit!"
Well duh yeah, isn't it ALWAYS all about the outfit???
